When summertime comes along, we love spending time with our families out on the patio. Cooking out, turning on the sprinklers, and having friends over for drinks and dinner is what makes a hot summer evening such an enjoyable time. If you spend as much time on your patio this summer as we plan to, you might want to think about an easy, DIY remodel option that is affordable and totally manageable in a weekend’s worth of work, start to finish.

Adding Slate Veneer paneling to your patio’s walls can make your patio stand out as something more than just an add-on to the back of your house. A Slate Veneer can give the patio area a character of its own. It’s light, thin and very flexible, meaning no matter how big your patio area is, it’s a manageable project for a couple of people to do on their own. No awkwardly large or heavy panels here.

We have a number of distinct slate veneer panels in our collection. Our variety is sure to offer you several choices that could work equally well with your pre-existing furniture and colors. We’re partial to our Copper Slate Veneer because of the warm tones it offers, making it beautiful in the summer, but also cozy if you plan to put an outdoor fireplace on your patio this winter.

All of our slate veneer is shipped in manageable 2’ x 4’ sizes so you can purchase very little excess and don’t have to struggle with installation. Also, all of our slate veneers do consist of a thin layer of real stone. This real stone ensures your patio will look authentic at a fraction of the price. We recommend TXTR-LITE Adhesive for applying new veneer on your patio.

Happy summer from our family to yours!

DecorPlastics is proud to offer a wide selection of wallboard panels, designer panels, and other products that make your home look truly exceptional at affordable prices. No matter what room of the house you’re renovating, we probably have what you’re looking for. But good walls just aren’t enough sometimes.

We think that good walls need good trim! While choosing the right panels will give your room the general feel you want, adding trim can personalize it with style. Trim really makes walls pop, and that’s why we offer several different options to take your walls from “nice” to “classy.”

We offer trim for all sides of your wall panels, whether it’s joints, corners, base, or end, though we would recommend using trim on all of those areas if you decide to use trim at all. Our decorative insert trim looks especially stunning in gold when used with marble or dark wood grain paneling. Adding a decorative trim in a tasteful manner can add class and style to traditional decorative paneling. We recommend trying our gold decorative trim with the Craquelle Black paneling. This classic combination of gold and marble can beautify your bath area. The refined simplicity of the look is elegant and tasteful.

Our decorative insert trim in silver looks stunning with the Carrara Marine panel, we think. Pairing silver with this oceanic blue gives your bathroom a tranquil and elegant aura.

As with any remodeling project, try to visualize the end result before you begin. Are you looking to create a feminine bathroom, a romantic retreat, or a neat and austere master bath? Working through these thematic questions, as well as considering what other pieces you will be using for decoration will help you make the right choices in trim.

Happy decorating!

In the past few weeks we’ve taken second looks at the garage, the bedroom, and the bathroom. But there’s one important family space that many guests will see and maybe even use: the mudroom. Somewhere near the entrance into your house you probably have one. It’s where the laundry piles up and the cleaning supplies are stored. It’s where the kids drop their sneakers and the dog hides to chew up your slippers. Let’s take some time to clean up this space and make it a beautiful part of your home that you can be proud of!

There are four simple ways you can take this place from dingy corner of the house to a beautiful entry room into your home.

Consider adding lockers or cubbies where the kids can hang their jackets and backpacks, keeping them off the floor or scattered about the kitchen.

If you have a window in your mudroom, take advantage of the natural light to enliven the space. Think about light and airy fabrics like linen to dress the framing, giving your room texture and style but keeping it bright and cheery.

Hang a chalkboard the family can use to communicate with one another or store important information like emergency phone numbers or family contacts. Use this space to leave notes about changed plans or to remind family members about certain events or occasions they need to schedule.

Lastly, add some stylish Designer Panels to your mudroom to make it really stand out as something special in your home! Panels from our Quadrotti Line are especially beautiful ways to give your room a textured, old world look at a very affordable price that’s hard to pass up.

Get started this weekend on turning your mudroom into a space you’d be proud to hang a visitor’s jacket!

When you see it empty, the possibilities seem endless – you think of colors, themes, a certain decorative style that you want to incorporate. You want to stand out above the eggshell white crowd.

Decorative plastics are an easy, affordable way to give your new house a creative flair and really make it your own. Interior design becomes much more fun when you aren’t sorting through the same paint and wallpaper samples as everyone else. Best of all, you can install designer paneling yourself with some basic instructions. There are no special skills required, but the final look will have all of your visitors thinking that something so stylish must have taken you ages to create!

3 Ways to Use Decorative Paneling in Your Home:

1. Consider also that decorative plastic designer panels work well as accents against colors that pop. Something from our TUFO line would create a relaxing effect when combined with cool, calming colors in a living room, dining room, den, or even a kitchen, and would give your home an earthy, natural feel.

2. If you like the trendy urban look of a loft but you’re living in suburbia, consider brick décor paneling for a den or a finished basement. Add some chic furniture and you’ll feel like you’re right in the heart of the city.

3. Looking to create a unique kitchen or bathroom for your new home? Quadrotti decorative paneling adds the appeal of tiling without all of the mess.

If you want to make a room stand out, there is no better way than through the use of designer panels. Best of all, these panels are hydro-repellent and washable, which makes clean-up a breeze. They’re also lightweight, sound-absorbent, and recyclable. And unlike other wall treatments, the sun won’t fade your decorative designer panels over time.

Quite often it seems that we take the time to make the interior of our homes look great. We incorporate designer elements and pleasing colors. Everything is cozy and peaceful.

And then we step into the garage.

Maybe because not all of us spend an awful lot of time in there, we tend to forget about it. And while it certainly doesn’t always make sense to design a full-blown state-of-the-art garage (unless you use it for work purposes), taking the time to spruce it up can increase the value of your house.

Not to mention that if you are a mechanic or someone else who keeps a workshop in the garage and thus spends a lot of time there, you’ll appreciate a more uplifting atmosphere.

Many garages in older homes are dark, dingy spaces with exposed beams and not a lot of light. Garages in newer constructions are a bit nicer in that there’s usually more light, but they still aren’t much to get excited about, even for someone who spends a lot of time there. They all look the same: eggshell-colored walls (if not just straight-up drywall) and… well, that’s about it.

For anyone who spends even a minimal amount of time in the garage, waterproof interlocking panels are a great way to give that space a little extra boost. Choose a lighter color such as fantasia blue to open the space up. If you want to create a garage space unlike any other, consider going for a bolder color, like emerald.

We all know how messy garages can get. Spills, dust, and everything between can be difficult to remove. But because these panels are waterproof and non-porous, any messes you make while working in the garage are easily cleaned up. Go ahead and hose them off if you need to!

Waterproof interlocking panels are a breeze to install yourself. Add some shelving and a workbench for your tools, and your garage starts to take on a certain kind of man cave feel.

This isn’t to suggest that you should design and decorate your garage in the same manner that you would your house. But adding something as simple as interlocking paneling can help to make the space more aesthetically pleasing and increase the overall value of your home.

Roman décor is very popular right now, and there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to bring a little bit of it to your own home, too. With its simplistic furnishings and light, neutral colors, the Roman decorating style can make for a calm, relaxing atmosphere. And because of the neutral tones, it’s neither too feminine nor too masculine.

A must-have staple for a Roman-themed room is some marbling on the walls. Décor Plastics can save you time here as thin and flexible slate veneers are fabulous as wall treatments. When choosing neutral colors for your walls, remember that darker shades will make the room appear smaller, while lighter neutral tones will open the space up.

As for the floors, you’ll probably want some kind of tiling that will complement your walls. Carpeting is not recommended for a Roman theme, though with the right style and color, you could make it work in a pinch. Tiled floor works best, followed by a lighter hardwood.

Any furniture you place in a Roman-themed room should have clean, simple lines. A canopy bed would be a great focal point, for example. Again, all bedding and upholstery should be in a neutral tone to match your walls and floors.

Because of the marbled walls, which really tie the Roman theme together, you don’t want too many other decorations, lest the room begin to look too busy. Sculptures – particularly ones that look distressed and old – are a possibility for dressing the room up a bit. Check out antique stores or flea markets to find sculpted busts. (Bonus points if you can find or fashion some kind of Romanesque pillar or column on which to display it!)

For a splash of color, consider adding some ivy or other plants to the room as accents.

Keep window treatments simple so that lots of light can get in!

Creating a Romanesque bedroom can be a fun DIY project. Warning: once you have it finished, you may never want to leave it!

1) Flowers – Yes, it may sound obvious, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t effective! Any flower, from full, luscious roses to sparse, elegant cherry blossoms can help bring spring inside. For the best effect, match the tone of your flowers to your decor plastic paneling!

2) Hang photos and paintings in lattice frames. Latticework is typically reserved for the garden, but it can bring the calm of an outside garden into the home when you’re creative! Use pieces of wood, painted cardboard, or leftover wallboard panels to get started.

3) Add some color – Whether you do it with a few new throw pillows, new curtains, or with our slate veneer panels, you should definitely be experiencing color this spring! This season is the time for rejuvenation, recreation, and rebirth, and the same can be true for your home.

4) Creative potting – Many people are saying goodbye to terracotta planting pots this spring in preference for more creative accessories. Small, household plants are finding their way into vintage milk pails, while larger flower beds are being raised in claw-foot bathtubs!

5) Paint the furniture – We often consider painting the walls, but we sometimes forget that we can also paint furniture! Give your bedside table a new kick, add a little color to your kitchen table, or turn your black dresser into a polka-dot dresser. Don’t be afraid to have fun and take risks!

If you plan on incorporating decor plastic paneling into spring redecorating, don’t hesitate to order some free samples today!

We support individual taste, and we want all of our customers to be able to find exactly what they’re looking for when they come to us for inspiration! No matter your style, there is a decor plastic panel out there that can help you express it! Today we share three timeless decor themes with you!

Classic Roman

Choose from various shades of marble to make yourself feel like a Roman king. Pure white surfaces with a glimmering sheen will always make you feel clean, no matter what room you’re in!

To add to the Roman theme, look into getting light fixtures that are fashioned after torches, add some plants to give the space some life, and don’t forget the candles!

“Under the Sea”

Whether you want your new space to resemble the dark blues of a deep Atlantic ocean (like the Craquele Black Plank Panels), or the shallow crystal blue of the Pacific Islands (like the Carrara Marine Plank Panels), there is a decor plastic design for you! Start by giving the room a bit of color, and then the sea is at your fingertips!

Additional decor tips: Shells can add a beachy feel to any room, but they work especially great in the bathroom! Nautical accessories can also add a bit of fun to this theme!

“Americana”

The classic brickwork of Americana historical fashion is easy to replicate without the actual hassle of bricks! We have a variety of brick designs to help you can the classic look you’re going for.

For a little more Americana, include an American flag in your design. Flowers always look great against the natural definition of brick, and some classic wood pieces would also add to the effect!

Happy decorating!
